"Guo Jiu" in Chinese means the brother of the Emperor's Wife. Cao lived at the time of the Song Dynasty, and his sister was married to the Emperor Ren Zong. While an aristocrat, he felt shame for the misdeeds of the Emperor and exiled himself to live as an hermit to contemplate Tao. During his exile, he was taught to see the Tao by Han Zhong Li and Lu Don Bin, and achieved immortality and enlightenment himself. He is the patron deity of actors.
