Why you should learn Hsing I

A no nonsense kung fu style, as a Hsing I practitioner you use simple direct techniques to end a fight in the blink of an eye. Yet despite this overall pragmatism, you develop one of the highest levels of Chi development in any kung fu style.

The name Hsing I is also known as Xing Yi, and can be translated as "mind / intention" punching. The style revolves around the concepts of Five Elements (earth, metal, water, wood and fire) and Twelve Animals (dragon, tiger, monkey, horse, chicken, falcon, snake, tai bird, lizard, swallow, eagle and bear).

The Five Elements correspond to five types of fighting power, and the Twelve Animals give Hsing I its adaptability. Hsing I incorporates the spirit of each animal to augment its techniques e.g. the dragon is powerful and fierce. You enter the realm of the metaphysical by training your Chi to conscious thought through the Twelve Animals Form.
